This is a fine job of writing Stephanie. You succeeded in triggering loads of memories from when I occasionally bicycled up to Wiscasset from Brunswick Naval Air Station, where I served from 1976 to 1978. In addition to the scenic beauty, I was moved by the cemeteries. Particularly the markers for the men lost at sea. There were inscriptions like “Lost off Cape Hatteras…”, “Lost off Martinique…”, “Lost off Sable Island…” They gave me a sense of the price the members of your community sometimes paid if they made their living on the sea.
