I kinda wish the American actor you mentioned would stay put in the UK, so as to keep from getting painfully frustrated when faced with what's going on over here. That's based on a bit of personal experience. The US was experiencing vexing problems when I was at Naval Air Station Keflavik in 1975 and '76. Being 2,400 miles away was most helpful. The local and national newspapers and TV shows couldn't bombard me with the chaos on a daily basis. Instead, the soothing voice of the BBC gave me the news in small, digestible dollops.
