Some of what I read about politics in Punjab does indeed have things in common with the political machine in Chicago. (I keep up with Chicago news, on account of having cousins there.) Such as the charges and counter-charges between Sushil Rinku of the Aam Aadmi Party and Punjab Congress candidate Karamjit Chaudhary regarding - what was it? - the “sand, liquor and cable mafia.” Chicago politicians would say something similar, only it would relate to liquor distributors, a corrupt labor union, and the actual Mafia.
