My Up North Michigan grandma told me she and her friends used Fromm’s process to hand-dip their own condoms back in the nineteen-teens. Local pharmacists didn’t carry them. They didn’t want to order them through the mail; the Comstock Act made that a felony. And they didn’t want to use the birth control approach suggested by some of the dimwit guys back then: do it standing up. A girl won’t get pregnant because gravity will make the guy’s man-milk drip out.
