I had to give this a second “read”, Harold, on account of the fix the Democrats have gotten themselves into regarding Biden’s candidacy. Crimeny, everyone is entitled to go after the Libs and Dems right now: they have it comin’.

This situation reminds me of when I was an FAA air traffic controller in 1981. Our union, PATCO (the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization) had been negotiating for months with the FAA for a new contract. We’d made little progress, so we decided to strike, despite 1) having taken a civil service oath to not do so, and 2) it being a felony punishable by a $10,000 fine and a year in prison. We thought it would work: our 16,000 controllers were practically the nation’s entire civilian ATC workforce. We were wrong. President Reagan fired the 11,400 controllers who walked out (me included), kept the aerospace system running with those who stayed on the job plus military controllers, and scored lots of political points by standing up to a union. Afterwards, we had a saying about our supposed leverage: we had Reagan right where he wanted us. Likewise, if Biden remains a candidate, the Democrats will have Trump right where he wants them.
