I don't get how Johnson can suggest praying something away with a straight face. He's a Louisianan. I've knew guys from there when I was in the Navy at Keflavik. Their local squeeze would tell 'em she's late. They'd pray and pray for an appearance of Aunt Flo. Sometimes prayer worked. Sometimes they had to hustle over to Personnel to get emergency orders to anywhere but there. Surely, Mike had to have seen the same thing where he comes from.
