Haaaaaa, Ann! My mom used to "accidentally" break cheap little ceramic knick knacks which her mother-in-law gave her - and expected to be prominently displayed in the house. If a potential witness was nearby and might walk in on her, mom quickly kicked the fragments under a rug. She might not get around to cleaning 'em up for while. In the mean time, when we walked across that rug, it sounded like we were walking on a gravel road.
